Mentor at Bloc
Bloc is a venture backed, mentorship based education startup that focuses on Ruby on Rails web development. As a mentor, I work with students as they progress through the challenging curriculum, which includes ruby, html, css, command line, git, sinatra, rails, and javascript. Students book "office hours" with mentors and these sessions often involve pair programming exericses and concept explanation.
Freelance Web Development
Planning, execution and management of web development projects. Early on, my tools of choice were HTML, CSS and PHP. Presently, I work with ruby, rails, and javacsript and focus as much as possible on back-end development.
Bloc
The Bloc course involved eight weeks of 7-8 hour days learning and practicing new concepts surrounding web development. I learned the basiscs of ruby, rails and the web all while building out a project management application of my own. Thanks to Bloc, I was already freelancing on my first rails project only a few weeks in to the course.
